Buckwheat Zydeco

Buckwheat Zydeco

American musical legend Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural Jr. (a.k.a. Buckwheat Zydeco) is the preeminent ambassador of Louisiana’s zydeco music.

If you’ve gotten into zydeco music, or felt its influence, or watched the world celebrate this great aspect of Louisiana culture over the past 30+ years it’s likely been because of Buckwheat Zydeco. Many millions witnessed the excitement when Jimmy Fallon chose him to open the final episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon: The show opened “cold” with a tight close up of Buck’s accordion, then – joined by Fallon on guitar and backed by the Roots – they kicked off a rousing rendition of “On A Night Like This.”

That song was the title track of Buckwheat Zydeco’s groundbreaking first Island Records album and was responsible for bringing the unique sound of zydeco into the musical mainstream in 1987. It was also the first major label zydeco record, and a Grammy nominee. No other zydeco artist has come close to selling as many records or exposing the music to more people around the world. The band claims the three largest selling zydeco albums of all time.

Over the course of Buckwheat Zydeco’s career, Buck has gigged with everyone from Eric Clapton (with whom Buckwheat also recorded) and U2 to The Boston Pops. The band performed at the closing ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics to a worldwide audience of three billion people. Buckwheat even performed at both of President Clinton’s Inaugurals. Recent national television appearances include PBS’s tribute to Paul Simon where Buck performed with Lyle Lovett; sitting in with Paul Shaffer on The Late Show With David Letterman (and playing “Hot Tamale Baby” for Martha Stewart); and feting Ozzie Ozbourne among other’s on VH-1’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Buck was recently profiled in a ten minute feature by Scott Simon, on National Public Radio's Weekend Edition Saturday. The band has appeared six times on Letterman, and on CNN, The Today Show, MTV, NBC News, CBS Morning News and many others.

Rick Springfield "Stripped Down" 2015 Tour

Rick Springfield "Stripped Down" 2015 Tour

For all of his accomplishments as an actor, best-selling author, and documentary subject, Rick Springfield’s first love has always been music, a passion he’s harbored since first picking up the guitar at the age of 12 in his native Australia.

With 25 million records sold, 17 top-40 hits, including Don’t Talk to Strangers, An Affair of the Heart, I've Done Everything for You, Love Somebody and Human Touch, as well as a 1981 Grammy® for Best Male Rock Vocal for his No. 1 hit single “Jessie’s Girl,” Springfield shows no signs of slowing down.  “I put everything I've got into making records,” he says. “Sometimes people may think they have you pegged but I trust the music to speak for itself.”

Never one to be confined to the recording studio where the music is born, Springfield has toured for over 30 years, hand-delivering the hits to millions of fans worldwide via his dynamic live shows.  His concerts are legendary with their rock heavy, high energy full band sets. However, in fall 2013 Springfield felt it was time to expand his live performance options.  Hence the solo “Stripped Down” tour was created to bring an intimate yet still lively performance to fans. The singer incorporates personal stories about his music and life into the show and even adds a question and answer segment as a way to truly connect with his audiences. The “Stripped Down” tour gives Springfield a chance to perform some of his favorite songs that he has written over the years that never quit fit in his full band sets.

Steven Wright 2015

Steven Wright

Comedian, actor, writer and frequent on Craig Ferguson's show Steven Wright is known for his distinctly lethargic voice and slow, deadpan delivery of ironic, philosophical and generally brilliant humor. One of the great and original stand-up comedians of his time, Wright peppers his routines with nonsensical jokes, anti-humor, and one-liners with contrived situations. For the most part, he "works clean" and makes his audiences think their way to his punch lines, usually with hillarious result. The first inductee in the Boston Comedy Hall of Fame, Wright has appeared in more than 25 films and the NY Times recently acknowledged his impact on a plethora of disciples including Demetri Martin, Ben Kronberg Tig Notaro, Flight of the Conchords and Zach Galifianakis. Louis C. K. has cited him as an influence, cast him on “Louie” and made him a consulting producer for his latest season.
