Tito Rojas

Tito Rojas, known as "El Gallo Salsero" was born on June 14, 1955 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. This talented artist has prevailed in the Salsa genre with an upstroke that for more than 36 years has crowned him as one of the monarchs of Salsa, standing in 26 musical productions, more than fifteen of these solo, in which he has surpassed more than one million units sold worldwide.

In 1975, he auditioned with Pedro Conga and his International Orchestra and was hired as a singer. After a short while, he left the band and joined the "Conjunto Borincuba", conducted by Justo Betancourt, as lead singer. With this band, he participated in the recording of Con Amor (With Love), which became a "hit" in 1978.That same year Rojas joined the Fania All-Stars and had a "hit" song with El Campesino (The Farmer). After spending sometime with the Fania All-Stars, Rojas decided to form his own band the "Conjunto Borincano" which was short lived. In 1987, Rojas joined Luisito Ayala's orchestra The Puerto Rican Power. In 1987 and 1989 he recorded with the band the salsa versions of the ballards Noche de Bodas (Wedding Night) and Quiereme Como Soy (Love me the way I am), which became very popular hits. 

Tito decided to come back as a soloist in 1991 and signed with the label Musical Productions under the direction of hitmaking executive producer Antonio Moreno. The release of his first album with the label Sensual was an immediate success worldwide, followed by 1992's Condename and 1994's A Mi Estilo. These three albums were filled with back to back chart toppers all over the United States and Latin America. 1995 was the year Tito Rojas consolidated his career, reaching double platinum after releasing Por Derecho Propioand being awarded as Puerto Rico's Best Salsa Artist. Tito Rojas has won many awards in the states and abroad due to the success of his albums.

Surpassing all expectations in sales and radio airplay and by implementing his international stardom in cities in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe. He has traveled the world bringing their music to all corners, the first artist to bring salsa to Israel. Tito Rojas has won more than thirty-five radio hits in his career, being noteworthy: Esa Mujer me Gusta, Guaguancó de Corazón, Este Amor, Condenáme a tu Amor, Nadie es Eterno {which bécame an international anthem}, Señora, Siempre Seré, Señora de Madrugada, He Chocado con la Vida, Esperándote, Amigo, Estoy de tu Parte, Lloro, Es mi Mujer, Yo no te Olvido, Por Mujeres Como Tu, Que más tu Quieres de mí, Te lo Pido Señor y Quiero Llegar a Casa, Después de Dios las Mujeres and Cuídala.

This great salsa legend has been honored with numerous awards among. In 2001, Tito was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Tropical Album and many other international prestigious awards , The Guaca de Oro de Panama, three Ampex Awards for the productions, Tito Rojas and Mi Estilo, three Diplo Awards , Paoli Award's six times in categories Best Salsa Singer, International Performer of the year, Label Production Award for Salsa and Musical Biography. Also recognized in the Senate of Puerto Rico for his contribution to tropical music, both locally and internationally. Also holds four ACE Awards of New York, two Premio Estrella awards in New York, Buho de ORO in Panama, four Premios Farándula of Puerto Rico, Panama Latin 103, Henry Ayala Show of Peru, TV y Novelas Colombia, Panama Mola Award, Ovación de República Dominicana, and a Discorona Award in Venezuela.

Tito Rojas continues to travel around the world on tour. At the moment, he is finishing his third album Viajero under his independent label TR Records. This album, which was recorded in New York and Puerto Rico, will be a definite treasure for Salsa lovers the world over.
